Homework

English (10 minutes): We are a few weeks into the Autumn Reading Challenge now and, although you may not complete all of them, could you try and fill in 2 of the stars?

Maths (10 minutes): This week, we have been rounding numbers to the nearest 10 and 100. Choose 10 numbers (not a 10s number) and round to the nearest 10 and then 100. Make sure some numbers you choose are above 100 or all of your numbers will round to 0 or 100!

Geography (40 minutes): Over the past three weeks, we have been learning about North America. Could you make a pamphlet (holiday style) which advertises taking a trip to North America? Below is a link to a website full of facts you could use to make North America sound amazing and remember that pamphlets are trying to entice someone to book a holiday, so lots of persuasive and exaggerated language. Also, pictures (printed or drawn) will make your pamphlet look spectacular!

Class Reader

This half term's class reader is 'The Iron Man' by Ted Hughes. We will be exploring the text during the first two weeks of the half term in writing also.

A Taste Of Our Learning

World, Faith and Philosophy

In World Faith and Philosophy this week, we have been continuing our learning around rituals within Judaism. We started by unpicking the difference between a ritual and a routine. We then moved onto learning about Sukkot and had a go at creating one as a class! Below is a picture of us in our creation.

Railway Assembly

This week, we participated in our annual railway assembly, where we learnt about how to stay safe when we are near or on trains. We learnt that it takes a train 6 football pitches in length to stop! I wonder if your child could tell you what else they learnt?

Geography

Over the past couple of weeks, we have been exploring North America in Geography, using maps and Google Earth to locate the continent, discover the countries and capital cities. In one lesson, we focused on working out how you would get to North America from the United Kingdom using a compass. Then, in this week's lesson, we focused on the various countries across North America, their capital cities and then wrote sentences describing how you could get from Canada to Panama.

PSHE- People Project

This week, we learnt about Martin Luther King Jr and Rosa Parks as part of the People Project, 'How To Change The World,' a history unit. We wrote speeches on topics we are passionate about, just like Martin Luther King Jr, and then delivered these speeches to the class. They were on topics like animals, people's rights, and the environment. Then, we made black history timelines.

Learning Behaviours

During our first session back, we discussed which learning behaviours we felt were going to support us best as learners this year. This is different from last year because, for the first time, we chose them ourselves. We brainstormed many ideas and narrowed them down to ten, from which we eventually decided on these six.
