Hampshire Smartphone Free School, July 2025
As you may have seen on the news recently, Hampshire Primary Schools are working together to try and become completely smart phone free by January 2026. With our local secondary school, TPS, now also strengthening their position, by only allowing pupils in Years 7 and 8 to bring in 'brick' phones from September, we are proud to stand behind this movement and continue to support parents and pupils in challenging thinking and supporting our children's mental health. For more information on the research behind this movement, visit Papaya Parents and read the Hampshire letter at the bottom of this page, signed by 118 primary headteachers, including ours, and look out for details coming soon on a parent talk from Smartphone Free Childhood at Langrish in September.

We are delighted to have been recognised again this year for the standard and range of our music provision. Music is so important for our children's development, creativity and self-confidence; this award reflects the hard work of all of our staff in delivering an aspirational, vibrant curriculum for all of our pupils to enjoy and their commitment to ensuring a range of performance experiences throughout their time with us.

SCARF Inflatable Classroom Visit!

The week before half term marked Children’s Mental Health Week in the UK with this year’s theme being ‘my voice matters’. Pupil voice, empowering all of our pupils to speak up and be heard, forms a fundamental part of our philosophy at Langrish.
To mark the week this year, we were pleased to invite Caroline from SCARF into school to work with our Infant classes and Year 6. Throughout the day, the children visited the SCARF tent in the hall to take part in workshops examining their feelings, how their bodies respond to these and thinking about ways to cope. Caroline was so impressed with how well behaved, mature and eloquent our children were when discussing their feelings. Well done Langrish!
A New Friendship Bench
A big thank you to a Southsea-based company, for their donation of our new bench. The children are already enjoying the additional seating at the edge of the playground.

Picture News Award - Silver Level achieved in response to our Cultural Day
'Many thanks for your entry to this year’s Picture Impact Awards 2023. We’ve now had the opportunity to read through your application and we are delighted to award you with the SILVER level award.
We reached this decision as we felt that all your children, led by the school council team, have really broadened their understanding of different values, beliefs and cultures from around the world. We loved the children’s comments on how it has impacted them, and we are excited that you have decided to continue with this every year. Well done for the impact you have made; you should feel very proud!'
