Welcome back everyone! I hope you’ve had a lovely summer. I’m so excited about all the fun, learning and adventures we’ll have together this year!

Notices 

PE starts next week (beginning 7th September)

Our PE days are Monday and Wednesday. Please ensure your child comes to school wearing their full PE kit on both days, including a PE T-shirt, shorts or joggers, and a hoodie. If your child wears earrings, please remove these for PE days or provide earring tape for them to use during PE lessons if they are recently pierced.

Meet the Teacher will take place on Wednesday 9th September at 2.45 p.m. This is a great opportunity to find out about the expectations for Year 2, and ask any questions you may have. I look forward to meeting you!

Home learning

Reading (10 minutes per day)

Please read with your child every day for approximately 10 minutes. 

We collect reading records every Friday and check the comments that are put in them (comments must be recorded at least 3 times a week please).

Children can change their books every day or as needed.

Spellings (15 minutes per week) 

Spellings will start next week. These are set in Ed shed. 

Your username and password for Ed Shed is at the beginning of your reading records. If you wish to complete the spellings on paper or through off-line games, I will attach a copy of the spellings at the bottom of the webpage each week. 

Maths (10 minutes per week)

Go on a number hunt around your home or neighbourhood. Can you find:

• A number smaller than 20
• An even number
• A number greater than 50
• A two-digit number
• A number with a 7 in it

Write or draw the numbers you find.
