A taste of our Learning

26.9.25 - Sneaky Graffiti!

This week, Year 3 have extended their learning of The Black Hat by changing...pretty much everything about it! We have planned new versions where the only consistent detail is a Black Hat, and they are free to get creative with every other detail. I can't wait to read them! In other areas we have been exploring magnetism as a non-contact force, finishing off our place value unit in maths and also enjoyed a lovely sunny afternoon outside, sketching the school buildings and thinking about where we would add graffiti (if permitted!)

19.9.25 - Black Hat Adventures and...Christmas?!

This week, our intrepid Otters have continued their journey into the mysteries of The Black Hat by writing their own versions of the story. They have found enchanted boots, magical swords and video game portals while wandering the woods and are ready to turn their visions into amazing stories. In other areas, we have been practising rhythm in gymnastics, lead by the cat-like agility of Mr James, and even had time for making...Christmas cards?! Well done Year 3!

12.9.25 - Hat Tricks!

This week we have continued our learning of the Black Hat story and created amazing story maps to help us retell it. We have also been getting deeper and deeper into place value, splitting numbers into hundreds, tens and ones ahead of our upcoming column addition and subtraction. In other areas, we showed off our Safety Snail science skills to explore what magnets can stick to. Well done Otters!

5.9.25 - Welcome back!

Welcome back to our brand new Year 3s! They have had a super first couple of days and hit the ground running with our new room, all their lovely new pencil case tools and (of course) some new stories to explore! Well done everyone!
