Two: As the clocks go back this October, our evenings grow darker—and staying safe becomes even more important. That’s why we’re launching an exciting new poster competition with the theme “Be Bright, Be Seen.” We want you to design a bold, eye-catching poster that reminds everyone of the importance of wearing bright or reflective colours when out and about after dark. Whether you walk, cycle, or travel to and from school, being visible can make all the difference. Bright colours aren’t just fun—they’re lifesaving. This is your chance to get creative while raising awareness in your community. Use your imagination, your favourite colours, and your best design ideas to create a poster that truly shines.
The due date is the 17th of October and winners will be announced on Monday the 20th of October.

Smart Phone Free Workshop
This week we took part in a Smart Phone Free workshop. We started by thinking about what people actually did before the internet, then we thought about the positive and negative impacts of the internet. By the end of our session we were able to decide three good habits we wanted to put into practice in our own lives, to minimise the amount of time we are spending on our phones/screens!
Key questions to ask at home:
How long will you spend on a screen in your life if you have a screen time of 2-3 hours a day?
Levelling up our Level 1 and 2 balances - P.E
Our P.E unit this term develops our prior learning of balances and skills from previous years. We have been creating routines that incorporate these skills and will develop this to use equipment in our routines too!
Key questions to ask at home:
How can I strengthen my core?
What makes a good routine?
Working Collaboratively - P.S.H.E
In PSHE this week, our challenge was to create a 30cm bridge that could hold a chosen object. We had to work as a team, have active participants, listen to all ideas as well as create an eye-catching, unique design!
Key questions to ask at home:
What does working collaboratively mean?
How can I be an active learner?
Edward Hopper - Art
Our second lesson from our art unit taught us how to use form to draw 3D shapes effectively. We focused on depth and length to make them pop from the page before we added shadow and texture to symbolise light coming from the left.
Key questions to ask at home:
Who was Edward Hopper?
What type of art did he create?
Year 6's Learning Behaviours and Rights Respecting Charter
During our first few days back, we created our Learning Behaviours display and our Rights Respecting Class Charter. We focused on ideas that would ensure we were acting as good role models around the school, whilst still growing in our own independence and learning journey.
